Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Hanging Grapes Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed leafy stem bearing hanging clusters of grapes. Additional cobalt drape decoration under each handle and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 1 1/8" flake to rim and a very minor chip to interior of rim. Otherwise excellent condition.
