Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral and Fylfot Decoration, Stamped "F.J. CAIRE, / Huntington, / L.I.", circa 1854-1863, squat-shaped, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, tooled rim, and applied lug handles, the front decorated with an unusual vertical tulip design along with two fylfots flanking the maker's mark. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. Restoration extending 3 1/4" from rim to left of decoration. A small spot of surface wear to right side of jar's front.
