Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cream Jar, Stamped "LEWIS & GARDINER / HUNTINGTON. L I", circa 1827-1829, squat-shaped, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with brushed cobalt highlights to the maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent bowl-shaped form. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. A few small rim chips. A faint 1 1/2" hairline from rim. A few small iron pings to surface.
