Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "BROWN BROTHER , / HUNTINGTON, / L.I.," circa 1870-1885, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a leaf flanked by curved foliate motifs. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. Two restored cracks extending from rim to shoulder on reverse. A short, faint line to left handle. Faint lines to underside. A chip to one handle. Shallow chipping and a short line to opposite handle.
