One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "BROWN BROTHER , / HUNTINGTON, / L.I.", circa 1870-1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a crisply-stenciled design of a cluster of grapes hanging from a vine. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Exceptional color to clay and cobalt. Excellent condition with a minor in-the-firing contact mark near base on reverse and some traces of water glass staining to right side of crock.
