Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware with Cobalt Wreath and Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with tooled and tapered shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed cobalt wreath surrounding a tulip blossom. Excellent decoration, featuring bold, thick cobalt slip, coupled with appealing small size to the jar. Y-shaped hairline on underside, which continues onto base in three places, forming a Y, a T, and a short line at the base. Otherwise excellent, as-made condition. H 8 1/2".
