Fine Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Exuberant Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, heavily-decorated on the front and reverse with a tulip plant with four blossoms emanating from a stylized ground. Exceptional decoration and color on a desirable, small-sized jar. Hairline across underside, continuing 1" up base. A minor glazed-over rim chip. A thin in-the-firing contact mark to one side. H 9".
