Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HAMILTON / Greensboro / PA.", attributed to William Leet Hamilton, Greensboro, PA, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with heavily-tooled midsection, semi-rounded rim, and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a large sweeping fuchsia vine design extending across the front. Heavy cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Crack on underside extending up reverse to shoulder. Some surface wear to left flower. A 4 1/4" Y-shaped hairline to shoulder on far left side of jar's front. A chip to end of one handle. A minor nick to end of opposite handle. Underside with old plastic residue, unrelated to any sort of repair.
