Rare Stoneware Canning with Cobalt Stripe Decoration and Waynesburg, Ohio Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, large-sized, tapered canning jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded wax sealer rim, the surface decorated with five freehand cobalt stripes and featuring the stenciled inscription "Made For / R.B. HAMILTON / Waynesburg. O." Strong decoration, excellent color, and difficult-to-find advertising. Provenance: Recently found in Maine. A 1 3/8" base chip. A small chip and some minor wear to shoulder molding. H 9 1/2".
