Eight-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA", circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with various stenciled flourishes, a band of stenciled diamonds, freehand stripes, and a large stenciled "8" at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable size. Large, tight X-shaped crack on underside. Some staining. H 19".
