Two Rockingham-Glazed Spittoons, American and English, 19th century, one of octagonal form and with relief geometric designs and reddish-brown glaze, impressed "AMERICAN POTTERY CO. / JERSEY CITY, N.J." on underside; the other of circular form with angled rope pattern and streaky brown glaze, impressed by the English maker, "THOMPSON BROTHERS", on underside. American Pottery Co. spittoon in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Thompson Brothers spittoon in excellent condition with light wear to surface. H (of American Pottery Co. spittoon) 4 3/4" ; L (of American Pottery Co. spittoon) 8".
