Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Inscribed "Newark Pottery / 1868", probably John R. Osborn, Newark, NJ, 1868, semi-ovoid jug with tall spout, decorated with the angled slip-trailed inscription "Newark Pottery. / 1868". Decorated above with a slip-trailed "3." with graduated underscoring. Probably made at John R. Osborn's stoneware operation in Newark, which he branded as "Newark Pottery". Excellent condition with a small spout chip on reverse and some light staining.
