Scarce One-Quart Stoneware Jar with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "TW JL", Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts, South Amboy, NJ, early 19th century, cylindrical form with heavily-tooled shoulder and slightly-flared rim, decorated with a coggled, double-rowed column design around its circumference. Impressed below with the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark, "TW JL", for potters, Thomas Warne and Joshua Letts. Midsection decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape or holly leaf, a classic Warne and Letts motif. Excellent size. A 1/2" line at base, continuing 1" onto underside. A 5/8" vertical crack in rim, connecting to a long thin crack along bottom edge of rim. H 7 1/2".
