Rare Glazed Redware Figure of a Cat, probably PA origin, circa 1840-1880, molded in the form of seated cat with curled tail, heavily-sponged manganese decoration, and white slip eyes, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Nice brushed manganese details to pupils, whiskers, and mouth. Hollow underside. The cat form is unusual among molded American ceramic animals. Chips to ends of ears. Minor flake to nose. Small chips to base. H 4".
