Three-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Cherries Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG", PA origin, circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed design of three cherries hanging from a leafy stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. A 6 1/4" Y-shaped line from rim on reverse. A small chip to interior of rim. A 1 3/4" salt drip to reverse. Jar is slightly out-of-round.
