Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "H.B. PFALTZGRAFF / YORK PA", circa 1870-1889, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed vine or leaf across the front. Cobalt highlights to maker's and capacity mark. Provenance: Deaccessioned from the Pfaltzgraff Pottery Archives, York, PA. A tight 1 1/2" crack above one handle. Heavy chipping to rim.
