Six-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Elaborate Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA", circa 1865, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large flowering plant bearing three spitting tulips, a dotted blossom, and leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent size and decoration. Tight meandering lines to reverse. Some staining. A stripe of old green paint to shoulder on front.
