Outstanding Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Dove of Peace Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1875, large-sized, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a striking slip-trailed design of a flying dove holding an olive branch in its beak. This image includes wonderful, folky embellishments applied with the slip cup, including heavy spotting throughout and tornado-shaped details within the wings. The entire design measures an impressive 11" long. Rim chips. A 6 1/2" crack on underside, extending 9 1/4" up reverse of crock. A minor iron ping to left side of crock.
