Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER", New York State origin, circa 1860, ovoid jug with tapered spout and applied handle, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a daisy plant with heavily-shaded petals and leaves. Slip-trailed "2." above. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. A few small, shallow chips to top of spout. An in-the-firing contact mark to side of jug. Some light staining to surface. A hairline to handle.
