Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration and 1838 Date, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, 1838, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized, slip-trailed flowering plant above the date "1838". Very nice condition. A salt drip to one handle and a salt drip to side of jar below handle. A short surface line to shoulder, not visible on interior. A small in-the-firing contact mark to front. Very minor wear to one handle.
