Two Pieces of Northeastern U.S. Stoneware, fourth quarter 19th century, a six-quart cooler with slip-trailed leaf decoration, stamped "GATE CITY WATER COOLER. / Patented May 25th, 1886.", paired with a four-gallon crock with spotted floral design, stamped "A.K. BALLARD. / BURLINGTON. VT.". Cooler with numerous chips to inner rim where a lid would rest, in otherwise excellent condition. Ballard crock with heavy exfoliation, handle chips, and rim chips, including a 2" loss to rim.
