Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / MOUNT MORRIS", New York State origin, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed leaf below a freehand "2". Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. 7/8" flake to rim on reverse. A few other small rim chips. A faint hairline to rim on front. A chip and short hairline to reverse end of right handle. Scattered exfoliation to right side. Spider cracks to right side. Some minor wear to inner rim where a lid would rest.
