One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and tall, heavily-ribbed neck, the front featuring a brushed foliate design with splayed leaves. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. An in-the-making dent on reverse is also brushed over with cobalt slip. A base chip and a 1 3/8" flake to underside at bottom edge of jug. A short faint line on underside, continuing 2 1/2" up base of jug. In-the-firing flaws to surface, typical of pieces from this time period.
