Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "A. Clark," Mid-Atlantic origin, probably Baltimore, circa 1825-1845, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated with a brushed flowering vine around its circumference and the inscription "A. Clark" below. This name may refer to a potter or the person for whom the jar was made. Unfortunately, the commonness of the name limits our ability to research its origin. A folky and well-decorated example. Large contact marks to sides, which include some chipping and/or adhered clay and dry spots. A 1 1/8" chip to side of rim and a 3/4" in-the-firing chip to top of rim. H 8 1/2".
