Rare Three-Quart Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H. MYERS," Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1825, ovoid-bodied pitcher with tooled collar, decorated around the body with a boldly-brushed design of connected horizontal flowers, each with open, circular blossoms. Wavy cobalt band decoration around collar and cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed below the spout with the Baltimore merchant mark, "H. MYERS", in a rare, smaller-than-usual stamp. This mark is found on ware made at the Baltimore Stoneware Manufactory, owned by merchant, Henry Myers, and predominately operated by New-York-trained potter, Henry Remmey, and his son, Henry Harrison Remmey. The pitcher appears to have a rare three-quart capacity. Few signed Baltimore stoneware pitchers from this time period are known. Restored handle. Restoration to spout. Base chips. H 9 1/2".
