Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Crocks, American, 19th century, a four-gallon crock with cobalt flowering plant design, stamped "N CLARK JR / ATHENS NY", paired with a three-gallon crock with bee-stinger decoration, Midwestern origin. Clark crock with top-to-bottom crack from rim, a shorter crack from rim, some chips to interior of rim, and staining. Bee-stinger crock with some fry to cobalt, two base chips (one of which is glazed over), an adhered piece of clay to underside, three in-the-firing clay separations at base, and other minor firing flaws.
