Two Pieces of West Virginia Stoneware, fourth quarter 19th century, a wax sealer with stenciled flourishes and advertising for "MICHAEL MOORE. / GEN. STORE / Proctor. W Va.," paired with a three-gallon cylindrical jar with cobalt brushwork surrounded a freehand "3", attributed to Jane Lew, West Virginia. Wax sealer with fry and illegibility to stenciling on wax, a small glazed-over chip to shoulder, and a few rim chips, one of which is in-the-firing. Jane Lew crock with two in-the-firing contact marks to front, one of which includes chipping, a glazed-over handle chip, and wear to surface.
