One-and-a-Half-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Advertising Jar, Stenciled "E.J. MILLER & SON / ALEXANDRIA, VA," Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising "E.J. MILLERS & SON / DEALERS IN / CHINA AND / GLASS WARE. / ALEXANDRIA. VA.". Three freehand stripes to shoulder area. Base with freehand "1 1/2" flanked by flourishes, above a freehand stripe. In-the-firing surface flake / contact mark near base. Some wear to surface on front. A minor contact mark on reverse.
