Scarce Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Cross Decoration, Stenciled "J P PARKER / JANE LEW / WVA," circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stenciled cross surrounded by four stars, a stenciled "3", and the stenciled signature "J.P. PARKER / JANE LEW / WVA". Thin sealed 3 7/8" crack from rim. Otherwise excellent condition.
