Scarce Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Cobalt Federal Eagle Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA.," circa 1875, tapered canning jar with rounded wax sealer rim, decorated with a central stenciled design of a Federal eagle with shield, holding an olive branch and arrows, surrounded by Hamilton and Jones maker's stenciling and a geometric-patterned border. Some in-the-firing flashing to front base and reverse. Some minor nicks to interior and exterior of rim. A chip to interior of rim. H 8".
