Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Palatine, WV origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a series of brushed cobalt stripes, the shoulder featuring a stenciled "4" flanked by dashes. Large inverted Y-shaped crack on side of jar, one part of which extends partway onto front, and another section of which extends downward and across underside.
