Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly-brushed design of a curving stem with three large fuchsia blossoms. Excellent decoration covering most of the jar's front. A shallow chip on exterior of rim. A few shallow chips on interior of rim, the largest measuring 7/8". A large L-shaped crack from rim on reverse, with a short hairline extending off from it. Hairlines on underside, extending 2" up base on front.
