Rare Quart-Sized Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1880, ovoid-bodied pitcher with footed base and flared rim, decorated with a brushed two-stemmed tulip plant design emanating from a stripe at the base. Collar decorated with heavy cobalt swags. Impressed with "R.C.R. / PHILA." maker's mark on side of pitcher's collar. Signed Richard Remmey pitchers are considered difficult-to-find, and most bearing his maker's mark are found in capacities of one-gallon or larger. A rare example. Restored handle. Thin 3 1/2" diagonal crack from rim on right side of pitcher. H 7 1/2".
