Rare Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration and Thumbrest Handle, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875-1890, approximately three-quart, finely-potted pitcher with narrow, footed base, bulbous midsection, tooled shoulder, and strap handle fashioned with an unusual applied thumbrest. Front decorated with two brushed flowering plants emanating from a stripe at base. Spout and collar decorated with brushed swags. Cobalt highlights to thumbrest and handle terminals. Approximately 2" restored section to foot on reverse with a 2 1/2" vertical hairline extending through it at base, continuing 1 1/2" onto underside. Thin sealed 2" crack from rim on left side of pitcher. A shallow, restored 1 3/4" long section on right side of pitcher's rim. H 9".
