Unusual Iron-Dipped Stoneware Jug with Incised Line Decoration and Impressed "G", Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1815, approximately one-gallon ovoid jug with footed base, reeded neck, and heavy incised line decoration flanking an incised wavy line and the impressed letter "G" (possibly a Masonic reference). Top and bottom half and jug dipped in a reddish-brown iron slip decoration. Professional restoration to spout. Some typical firing flaws. Two shallow base chips and a few minor base nicks.
