Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "BROWN BROTHERS / HUNTINGTON, L.I.," New York State origin, circa 1863-1870, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with an unusual design of opposing flowers above a graduated blossom or grape cluster. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid (not original to churn) and wooden dasher. Excellent form and decoration. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. Excellent, esentially as-made condition with typical wear to inner rim where lid rests. Lid in excellent condition.
