Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "S.C. BROWN / HUNTINGTON / L.I," New York State origin, circa 1879-1882, cylindrical crock with toole dshoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, the front featuring a large brushed tulip below a cobalt-accented maker's mark and capacity. Produced at the short-lived pottery of Stephen C. Brown. Provenance: Donald Matties Collection. Approximately 4 1/2" restoration from rim, extending through one handle. A second 4" restoration from rim on reverse. Approximately 3 1/2" restoration to base on side of crock.
