Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY, / N.Y. / POTTERY," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. In-the-firing warping to front. Base chips. 1 1/2" surface line at base, continuing 1 3/4" onto underside. A minor nick on interior of rim. Spots of staining. Some additional minor streaks of whitish water glass staining.
