Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "A.K. BALLARD / BURLINGTON, VT.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a brushed design of a grape cluster hanging from a leafy vine with wavy tendril. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Firing flaws including some oversalting to jug and fry to cobalt. In-the-firing chipped area to handle. 1 7/8" contact mark to right of decoration. 6 1/2" hairline on side of jug. A very short and minor surface line to base.
