Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO / WORCESTER, MASS," circa 1870, large-sized, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a parrot perched between two leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very large curving crack from rim on reverse, which is crudely-sealed and has two long hairlines extending from it. Staining to crock, primarily on right side.
