Unusual Stoneware Pitcher with Fine Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, third quarter 19th century, highly-ovoid pitcher with footed base, applied strap handle, and narrow collar with heavy molding at base, the front decorated with an artistic slip-trailed design of three detailed leaves joined at the stem. Pitcher's handle includes an original hole in upper terminal to allow it be fitted with a metal lid. An approximately 1 3/4" x 1 3/4" section of spout/rim reglued, with short hairline descending from it. Two hairlines to collar / shoulder area, one with tiny nick out of rim. An additional very short hairline from rim on reverse. H 10".
