Two-Gallon Stoneware Cream Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff and Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed tulip beside the number "2". Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Some small, shallow chips to interior of rim. Some staining. A 2 3/4" Y-shaped hairline on underside, continuing a short distance onto base on reverse.
