Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff and Romanzo Smith, circa 1867-1869, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder and flared spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of tulip plant bearing two large blossoms. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity, and impressed asterisk above decoration. Long horizontal line at base. A small U-shaped line to top of spout. A minor chip and tiny nick on interior of spout. Some staining. Some small spots of fry to cobalt.
