Rare Diminutive Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "FR. LEITZINGER / CLEARFIELD, PA," circa 1851-1879, small-sized, bowl-shaped jar with mottled red and brown lead-and-manganese glaze, impressed at the base with the rare maker's mark of Swiss immigrant potter, Frederick Leitzinger, active in the town of Clearfield in Clearfield County, PA, circa 1851-1879. Few signed stoneware or redware products by this potter are known. Excellent size. Band of wear around midsection. Wear and roughness to rim. A hairline crack. H 3" ; Diameter 5 3/8".
