Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cluster of grapes hanging from a stem between a corkscrewing vine and leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Significant cracks to right side of jar's front and right side of jar, connecting to a large Y-shaped crack on underside. Some staining. Tiny nicks to inner rim where a lid would rest. A small amount of fry to cobalt.
