Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Looping Line Decoration, Stamped "GEDDES. N.Y.," third quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed looping line design accented with dashes. Slip-trailed "2" to left of decoration. Brushed cobalt accents to maker's mark. Two minor chips on exterior of rim. Several chips on interior of rim. A faint 2" hairline from rim on side of crock. A shallow chip and minor nick to one handle. A shallow chip to opposite handle. Large tight lines in underside, one of which extends 2 3/4" up reverse of crock. Two base chips, probably in-the-firing, measuring 1 1/4" and 1".
