Very Rare Miniature Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. & A. SEYMOUR / ROME," Norman & Arden Seymour, Rome, New York, circa 1830, semi-ovoid churn with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, the front decorated with large abstract flowering plant design. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Scarce maker's mark and exceptional size, made as a salesman's sample or child's toy. Two large reglued and professionally-restored pieces on reverse/side. This restoration includes a crack, which extends through one handle. An approximately 2" x 1" area of restoration paint on front of collar, possibly a chip restoration. A 3" faint hairline from rim on front. Wear to interior of rim. Small chips to inner rim. H 7".
