Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Wreath Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK / ATHENS," New York State origin, circa 1825, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared rim, and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt wreath surrounding the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark, "N. CLARK / ATHENS". Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition with a rim chip and a rim nick, minor traces of old paint, and a slightly-recessed, in-the-firing spot to left side of front.
