Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR / TROY . FACTORY," New York State origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with semi-squared spoput. decorated with an incised design of a bird with turned head, heavily-incised wing, and impressed eye, perched atop a stylized leaf. Light cobalt highlighs to incising, maker's mark, and capacity mark. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a collection consigned to this auction, which was assembled during the 1980s. Excellent, essentially as-made condition.
