Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral and Cross Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," Pennsylvania origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and thick, squared rim, the shoulder decorated with bright cobalt dotted tulip motifs interspersed with crosses. Excellent color and decoration. Approximately 5 1/2" crack from rim with tiny slivers missing along crack. This crack includes some additional hairlines, which extend to its left. A small base chip, probably in-the-firing.
